Request #RT-458
  Closed
Hi Clerks: After the very controversial decision on a split vote by our Council on September 16th to raise the flag of the People’s Republic of China in front of City Hall on October 1st, and the subsequent suspension of the action by the Mayor, we will be going back to Council on October 7th with a motion to reconsider the action. At that time, we want to provide to the Council information on other local cities’ policies related to raising flags, particularly flags of other nations in and around City Hall. Does your City have a formal policy on raising flags? If so, could you please provide me with a copy? Does your policy address flying the flags of other nations? Lara, thanks so much for the information you’ve provided me already—it’s been a huge help. Thanks in advance, everyone, for any information you are able to provide.
