1. We note that on your blog for April 26, 2012, under Wildfire Prevention, you mention that your office had initiated a performance audit of the Wildfire Prevention Assessment District. We would appreciate your telling us where we can see the performance audit online. If it is not available online, please tell us how we can obtain a copy of that report.
2. We are also and especially interested in the WPAD Financial Status Report, prepared for the June 2013 Committee Meeting, as seen below. We note that under Vegetation Management Program, the amount spent year to date was $1,030,047.
We would like to have specific details of how that total of $1,030,047 was spent. Does it include money paid to the Oakland Fire Department for Inspections to assure that the landscaping is in compliance with the Fire Code?
Does that amount also include money paid for clearing weeds along roadsides of major routes? Does it also include money paid for fuel reduction (other than goat grazing which we see as a separate expense) on City of Oakland property?
We note that $45,092 was spent for support services for the Inspections program. What support services does this amount pay for?
We assume that OFD firefighters or contractors that it hires do the actual inspections and roadside clearance, and that the WPAD then disburses the money to the OFD to pay for the work. Is that assumption correct? Are the firefighters who do these inspections off duty at the time, or is this work that they do while they are on duty at one of the fire stations?
